New Delhi, Oct 04 (ANI): The River Yamuna has always held a special place in our traditions and culture, with a significant impact on both the environment and our heritage. The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), under government leadership, has been actively involved in restoring the Yamuna's purity. They have undertaken various initiatives, including advanced wastewater treatment facilities, riverbank rejuvenation, and extensive pollution monitoring. Recently, as part of the ongoing 'Swachta hi Sewa' initiative, the Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation, in collaboration with NMCG, organized a cleanliness drive at Chhath Ghat in New Delhi. This effort was aimed at enhancing public awareness and participation in the river's revitalization. Director General of the National Mission for Clean Ganga, G. Asok Kumar, and senior officials also participated in this cleanliness drive. The attendees took a Swachhata Pledge, and they were educated about the significance of clean rivers through street plays (Nukkad Nataks) and various cultural activities held at the Ghat. Approximately 1,000 individuals participated in the event, and an impressive 6,000 kilograms of waste were gathered during the drive. The initiatives undertaken by NMCG are yielding positive results, with growing public involvement each day. These actions aim to mitigate pollution in the Yamuna River. With NMCG's support, these endeavors have led to an enhancement in the Yamuna's water quality, and their ongoing dedication holds the promise of a cleaner and healthier future.
