The "Ganga Utsav 2024," set to begin at the Chandi Ghat in Haridwar, will once again celebrate the glory of the Ganga river and India’s cultural heritage. This year, the festival will mark the eighth anniversary of the Ganga being declared the "National River." This edition is particularly special as it will take place along the riverbanks. Union Minister for Jal Shakti, C.R. Patil, will inaugurate the event, along with several distinguished guests, including Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. A major highlight this year is set to be the 50-day Ganga Women's Rafting Campaign organized in collaboration with the BSF, which will travel through various cities along the Ganga river and conclude at Ganga Sagar. This campaign aims to promote women's empowerment and convey the message of Ganga conservation. In addition, the festival will feature "Ganga Samvad," "Ghat Par Haat," competitions for children, street plays, exhibitions, and cultural programs. The aim of Ganga Utsav 2024 is to inspire people to keep the sacred river clean and protected. The event serves as a reminder of our shared responsibility towards rivers.
