Porbandar (Gujarat), August 23 (ANI): Gujarat government has adopted ISRO’s indigenous GPS technology to strengthen the safety and convenience of fishermen. This advanced system provides accurate boat location, aids in navigation, communication, and supports livelihood. A notable feature is its availability in 13 Indian languages, making it easily accessible for local fishermen. As the fishing industry is the backbone of Gujarat’s economy and sustains millions of families, the initiative holds great importance. In Porbandar, 2,000 of 2,500 boats have already been equipped with GPS, and the government aims to cover all boats to ensure safety, transparency, and prevent accidental entry into foreign waters. This initiative is proving to be a significant relief for lakhs of fishermen, securing their livelihood and future.
