Meet Naseer Ahmad Mir from Srinagar, who gained recognition for his Kani Shawl craft

Srinagar, May 30 (ANI): Naseer Ahmad Mir, a Kani shawl maker from Srinagar, won a national award in 2005 for his exquisite Kani shawls. He has gained recognition for his exceptional skill and craftsmanship in creating these intricate and beautiful shawls which are known for their intricate designs and luxurious feel. He got this art training from his father in childhood and started to work on shawl work on two lambs. Naseer Ahmad Mir also setup a unit in the downtown area of Srinagar and increased more handmade machines in his unit and involved more artisans in this work. He became inspiration for other artisans after he got a national award from President in 2006. Currently, more than hundreds of people are working in his unit. Jammu and Kashmir's govt also supports him in exploring this business by providing him platform at National and International level. He guided more artisans to make Kani Shawls to submit for National awards.
