Srinagar, March 18 (ANI): As the holy month of Ramadan is underway, the markets of Srinagar are witnessing rush of residents flocking to stock up on essential items and festive delicacies. Markets in Srinagar are full of high-quality dates with dozens of varieties as Muslims around the world use dates extensively during Iftar. As per the Islamic point of view, dates have their own importance and everybody prefers to break their fast with dates. Markets including Koker Bazar, Maharaj Gunj in Srinagar are filled with dates that come from different countries including Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Particular variety of dates like Ajwa, Amber, Medjool, Mabroom, and Kalmi are experiencing significant demand despite their high prices. The holy month of Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar which started on March 12.
