21 June, Ukhrul, Manipur (ANI): These models are gearing up for a mega fashion day event in Ukhrul town of Manipur — and why not? In Manipur and across the Northeast, fashion isn’t just a fleeting trend, it’s woven into everyday life. Here, tradition meets modernity in the most stylish way. People embrace new trends with ease, turning heads and setting standards with effortless grace. The perfect stage for this flair was the recently concluded Shirui Festival, where young models lit up the ramp, showcasing not just their talent, but the vibrant fashion spirit of the region. A traditional weaving textile show, paying tribute to the rare Shirui Lily that blooms only at Shirui Kashong, was showcased at the 5th State Shirui Lily Festival in Ukhrul. Curated by young designer and digital artist Easternlight Zimik from Kachouphung village, the show featured three distinct scenes: 'Conversation Art' on cultural continuity, 'Muse Game' redefining traditional wear as everyday fashion, and a final homage to the Shirui Lily and the artistry of Tangkhul weavers preserving their rich textile heritage. The Shirui Lily Festival not only celebrated a rare natural beauty but also spotlighted Manipur’s rising fashion scene. From traditional weaves to bold new expressions, it reflected the region’s creative spirit—where culture, craft, and modern style come together in perfect harmony.
