Manipur weaves unity through the power of learning

Ukhrul (Manipur), 07 Aug, ANI: In the hills of Ukhrul town in Manipur, a quiet revolution is unfolding — driven by education, confidence, and empowerment. At its heart is the Assam Rifles Centre of Educational Excellence in Somsai. Launched in July 2022, this initiative — a collaboration between the Assam Rifles, the CSR program of a private bank, and a charitable trust called the National Integrity and Educational Development Organization (NIEDO) — provides free residential NEET coaching to girls from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This inspiring educational initiative in Manipur is more than a bold step — it stands as a model of unity and commitment. Girls from diverse ethnic communities — Meitei, Kuki, Pangal, Naga, and others — live, learn, and grow together in harmony. They support one another, share meals, and thrive in a nurturing, home-like environment. Three batches have completed their training, and the fourth is currently underway at the residential centre within the Assam Rifles campus. Through this initiative, the Assam Rifles has shown that their duty goes beyond guarding borders; they are now shaping futures. By championing education and peacebuilding, they’ve created a safe, nurturing space for young girls whose dreams were once dimmed by hardship. Today, these daughters of Manipur, once held back by circumstance, are confidently stepping toward a brighter future — with stethoscopes in sight and determination in their hearts.
