Imphal (Manipur), May 10 (ANI): It was a day marked by sorrow, pride, and solemn salutes in Imphal East, Manipur, as the mortal remains of BSF Constable Deepak Chingakham were brought home to his native village. Draped in the tricolour, his coffin was received with full military honours by grieving family members, fellow BSF personnel, and local authorities. Constable Chingakham made the ultimate sacrifice on the intervening night of May 9 and 10 during intense cross-border firing in the RS Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir. He was part of Operation Sindoor, a critical mission aimed at neutralising infiltrations and hostile threats from across the Pakistan border. A wave of mourners flooded the village — all standing united in grief, reverence, and admiration for the fallen hero. Deepak’s martyrdom has etched his name into the heart of the nation — a symbol of unmatched bravery, honour, and patriotism.
