‘Main culprits’ behind killing of two teenage students arrested in Manipur by CBI: CM Biren Singh

Imphal (Manipur) October 01 (ANI): The tensions in violence-hit Manipur heightened again after teenagers were allegedly “kidnapped and killed” by armed miscreants. Acting swiftly on it, Home Minister Amit Shah appointed CBI Special Director, and other officials in Manipur to investigate the matter. The CBI team led by Special Director Ajay Bhatnagar reached Manipur on September 27 to investigate the murder of two students. Meanwhile, Manipur CM Biren Singh informed that the CBI has arrested four accused from Churachandpur in this case. Meanwhile, NIA released a press note on Sept 30 and said that Bangladesh and Myanmar based militants attempted to “waging war against India”. The NIA arrested Seiminlun Gangte in a case related to transnational conspiracy by the leaders of terror outfits in neighbouring countries. On October 1, women staged a peaceful mass sit-in protest in across the state over murder of two students. Manipur has been witnessing violence since May 3, following the protests against HC order to consider Meitei community in ST category.
