Lebanon, Hezbollah finally agree to US’s ceasefire proposal on cost of thousands civilians killed

New Delhi, November 19 (ANI): The Israeli Defence Forces have completely turned Lebanon into ruins as the Middle East war turns one-sided. Be it Lebanon or Gaza, the residents have been grappling with intensifying Israeli strikes every passing day. After thousands of civilians were killed and injured, Lebanon and Hezbollah have finally agreed to a ceasefire. Lebanon & Hezbollah have agreed to US proposal for a ceasefire with Israel, a top Lebanese official told Reuters on Nov 18. Ali Hassan Khalil, an aide to Lebanon Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri described the effort as the most serious till now to end fighting. Berri has been endorsed by Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran and has been negotiating a ceasefire. World powers have said that truce must be based UNSC Resolution 1701 that ended 2006 war between Israel-Hezbollah. US Secy of State Blinken on Oct 25 also emphasised urgency in getting to a diplomatic resolution to end war based on UNSC 1971 resolution. Khalil said that the success of the initiative now relies on Israel as there has been no immediate comment from Jerusalem. It is noteworthy that Israeli Defence Forces have been at war since October 07, 2023 to free its hostages held by Hamas
