As India marks Good Governance Week celebrating former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 100th birth anniversary, Gujarat’s Kisan Suryodaya Yojana stands out as a people-centric reform delivering real impact on the ground. The scheme has transformed rural life by providing assured daytime electricity from 7 AM to 5 PM, making farming safer, more efficient, and productive. Farmers in Sabarkantha’s Kankrol village say daytime power has ended sleepless nights, simplified irrigation, and saved time. Enabled through upgraded transmission, solar integration, and rural infrastructure, the initiative has boosted farm incomes while reducing carbon emissions and peak-hour load. As of November 2025, it covers over 17,000 villages and nearly 20 lakh farmers, with a ₹5,353 crore investment. The Gujarat government has assured 100% daytime power for farmers from March 1, 2026—reinforcing governance that aligns policy with people’s needs.
