Gujarat (India), July 13, 2024 (ANI): Gujarat has joined the national initiative to empower girls through education. Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) plays a crucial role in this effort, improving the education ratio for rural and underprivileged girls in the state. Established in 2004, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya aims to educate girls in areas with low female literacy rates. Currently, 257 KGBV schools in Gujarat serve some 30,000 girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, whose parents cannot afford their education. Since its inception, KGBV has benefited over 80,000 girls. The state government spends approximately 35,000 rupees on each girl every year. This initiative has been a boon for these students, significantly improving their access to education and opportunities.
