Srinagar, November 05 (ANI): Ahead of the Diwali festival, a Kashmiri potter from Srinagar got busy with special orders of lamps and diyas. The young potter is busy preparing a huge order of twenty thousand lamps. Mohamad Umer Kumar, a resident of Ishber Nishat and a young entrepreneur is achieving the feat of preparing the orders with the help of his father and brother. Umer Kumar is trying hard to revive the dying art of pottery in the valley of Srinagar. Umer’s lamps will be decorating and lighting up hundreds of homes in Srinagar this Diwali. Till now, Umer’s family has completed making more than five thousand lamps and is aiming to complete all the orders by November 09. “As compared to previous years we got a special order which is more than twenty thousand so we are very happy as we have completed more than five thousand of deeps or lamps and hopefully by the ninth of this month the whole order will be completed. It is also very good for our culture because when we celebrate Eid, we wear kurtas made by Hindu tailors and I am happy to make Diyas for the Hindu families now,” said Mohamad Umer Kumar.
