Kanpur's leather industry faces brunt of 50% tariffs imposed by US, exporters appeal to Govt

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), September 2, 2025 (ANI): Leather Exporters face the heat of US-Imposed Tariffs on India. With the imposition of 50% tariffs on Indian goods, Kanpur’s renowned leather industry is struggling to sell its products in the US market. Leather exporters are facing serious setbacks, as US importers have stalled payments for pre-ordered shipments. “The industry is facing losses worth crores of rupees at the moment,” said a leather trader from Kanpur. “We have lost hope in the government. It has failed to address the issue adequately,” he added.
