Special prayers were held in U.S. Republican presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ ancestral village Thulasendrapuram. Kamala Harris’ ties to Thulasendrapuram run deep, as it was the birthplace of her maternal grandfather, PV Gopalan. Shri Dharmasastha Temple, which holds the names of its benefactors, proudly includes Harris among them, strengthening the bond between her family and the village. The US presidential elections are set to take place on November 5, with Harris going against former US President and Republican candidate Donald Trump. Trump is aiming to make a comeback to the White House, while Harris is aiming to create history by becoming the first woman president of the US. A recent poll conducted by the New York Times and Siena College showed Harris and Trump tied at 48 per cent in the popular vote
