JKACCL organises 5-day Calligraphy exhibition cum workshop in Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 06 (ANI): 5-day Calligraphy exhibition cum workshop attracted art visitors at a large scale in Srinagar. It was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL). The purpose of the exhibition was to promote old and rich calligraphy and aware future generation of calligraphy. Notably, Kashmir calligraphy has a thousand years of rich history and it was popular among the people during the past times. But due to modernization, this art is dying and losing its glory which is resulting in lack of knowledge about calligraphy in present generation. Calligraphy which is known as 'Khattati' in Persian and 'Khusnavisi' in Urdu was popular all over the world, especially in Islamic countries like Saudi, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and different states of India including Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Mumbai. So that’s why authorities came forward and organised a 5-day calligraphic workshop cum exhibition.
