J&K: Terror attack on Army convoy in Akhnoor; Indian Army’s BMP-2 Sarath joins Operation ‘ASAN’

Akhnoor (J&K), October 28 (ANI): In a swift move following terror attack on Indian Army convoy earlier in the day, Army launched Operation ‘ASAN’. To counter terrorism, Indian Army deployed its advanced BMP-2 ‘Sarath’ infantry fighting vehicle as part of Operation ‘ASAN’. Indian Army’s BMP-2 ‘Sarath’ gives strategic advantage to Army in the region with its amphibious capabilities and firepower. ‘Sarath’ is equipped with a turret-mounted anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) launcher, precision targeting systems, and armoured shielding. According to the Army’s White Knight Corps (16 Corps), stationed in the region, the terrorists opened fire on an Army vehicle. Militants launched multiple rounds of gunfire on the Army convoy near Asan in the Sunderbani Sector, targeting military vehicles. In response, the Army cordoned off the area and launched a comprehensive search operation. Meanwhile, one terrorist was gunned down following the attack in the counter-offensive. The Army officials added that no injury or casualty was reported and a search operation has been launched.
