J&K: Sea of devotees throng Mata Vaishno Devi Temple in Katra as part of new year celebration

Katra (J&K) January 02 (ANI): Devotees in large numbers thronged Mata Vaishno Devi Temple in J&K’s Katra on January 01. People in large numbers queued up outside the shrine for ‘darshan’ on the first day of the new year. Security force personnel and volunteers were deployed to avoid any untoward incident. The devotees who had the auspicious sighting of the deity were extremely happy with arrangements at the temple. Notably, the holy cave shrine witnessed the arrival of over 95 lakh pilgrims Dec 29, 2023, the highest in past 10 years. The highest number in the history of the pilgrimage journey was in 2012 with 1 crore 4 lakh 9 thousand and 5 hundred and 69 devotees paying obeisance at the sacred temple.
