Srinagar, September 23 (ANI): As peace is returning to Kashmir, it has brought to focus the scope of Kashmir being promoted as a wedding destination. In this regard, the J&K tourism department has brought wedding planners and corporates from Mumbai and other parts to plan destination weddings in the upcoming days in Kashmir. Industry insiders revealed that buoyed by the confidence of a record tourist footfall, many NRIs and other families are now planning their weddings in Kashmir. The stakeholders are also making an appeal to the people to come to the Valley for their D-day and experience solace and calm. The Tourism Department on its part is supporting this new trend with all seriousness. The department has flagged this new trend for replication on a bigger scale. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, Jammu and Kashmir is a beautiful place to tie the nuptial knot. People can come here not only to enjoy the mesmerising locales but also to perform and celebrate their weddings at dream destinations. Currently cities and destinations like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Mussoorie, and Lonavala are the favourite wedding destinations across the country. The economic potential of the destination wedding market in the country is pegged to be around Rs 25,0000 crore. With the enlisting of Kashmir as another wedding destination, it is all set to give tourism here a big boost. Holding destination weddings now is going to further broaden the spectrum of tourism services and products.
