Srinagar, Sept 11 (ANI): 100 girls belonging to poor families got married in a mass marriage ceremony in Srinagar. The program was organised by Al Noor Yateem Trust at a marriage hall in the Bemina locality. The purpose of the ceremony was to help boys and girls from weak financial and social backgrounds. Members of different civil societies including senior citizens and religious scholars were also present at the function. For over three decades insurgency in the region has led to poor economic conditions in Kashmir. It has rendered thousands of youth orphans resulting in their incapability to fulfill the requirements for marriage. Couples also got essential household items and a cheque as gift by the head of the trust.
