J&K: Incessant rainfall triggers flash floods in Kupwara; police carry out rescue operation

Kupwara (J&K), April 29 (ANI): Amid the persistent heat wave conditions throughout parts of India, incessant rainfall unleashed havoc in J&K’s Kupwara on April 29. Incessant rainfall triggered flash floods in several areas of North Kashmir, including Handwara and Kupwara. Several houses were submerged in water and roads were flooded causing difficulties for locals. Following the flash flood, J&K Police carried out rescue operations in flood-affected areas of Kupwara district. Keeping in view the situation, J&K State Disaster Management Authority on April 29 declared holiday for schools in the district. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on platform ‘X’ updated about the situation and informed that 6 houses got damaged and no loss of life was reported. The Meteorological department has predicted more rain in the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, fresh snowfall was also reported from northern Kashmir’s Bandipora district and the Machil sector of Kupwara district.
