Udhampur (J&K), June 23 (ANI): The District Administration of Udhampur is thoroughly preparing for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to start on June 29. This annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave shrine, situated at an elevation of 12,700 feet in south Kashmir, will bring a significant influx of devotees through Udhampur district. To ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for the pilgrims, the administration has adopted a comprehensive strategy. Langars, or community kitchens, will provide continuous free food service around the clock. Additionally, 17 well-equipped lodgement centers have been set up to offer temporary accommodation with essential amenities such as beds, water, and electricity. These centers will also serve as critical support in case of road closures or other unexpected emergencies.
