Srinagar (J&K), October 5 (ANI): To address the critical issue of breast cancer, the Cancer Society of Kashmir organized a comprehensive awareness and screening program in Srinagar. This initiative aimed to educate the local community on the importance of early detection and prevention of breast cancer, one of the most prevalent cancers among women worldwide. Breast cancer remains a significant health challenge globally and has seen an alarming rise in cases within the Kashmir Valley. With its high morbidity rate, early detection through regular screening can greatly improve survival rates. The Cancer Society of Kashmir, a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting cancer, not only offered breast cancer screenings but also provided crucial information on self-examination and risk factors. The program featured informative sessions led by healthcare professionals who discussed the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, the importance of self-examinations, and the necessity of regular screenings. The response to the initiative was overwhelmingly positive, with many women expressing gratitude for the opportunity to be screened. In addition to raising awareness, the event created a valuable platform for open discussions about breast health. Preliminary results revealed that several attendees required follow-up care, highlighting the importance of such community-focused programs.
