Indigo Fiasco: DGCA issues show-cause notice to Indigo CEO amid flight disruptions

December 07, 2025 (ANI): The Indian civil aviation sector has experienced massive disruptions over the past week with cancellations & delays by IndiGo. Primarily due to sudden shortage of pilots & crew arising from revised Flight Duty Time Limitations norms implemented by DGCA. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has issued a formal show-cause notice to IndiGo’s CEO Pieter Elbers. DGCA held airline accountable for recent large-scale operational disruptions, pointing to lapses in planning, oversight. Citing ‘inadequacy of arrangements’, DGCA demanded ‘comprehensive explanation’ by the CEO within 24 hours. The notice highlighted failures in passenger care, noting that airline didn’t provide mandated information or facilities to the travellers. In response to the crisis, IndiGo issued an apology on X, noting that it had operated slightly above 700 flights connecting 113 destinations. MoS Murlidhar Mohol urged IndiGo to resolve disruptions and ensure passengers’ rights and safety are prioritized, action will be taken.
