Rameswaram [Tamil Nadu], April 3(ANI): On Ram Navami, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India’s first vertical lift railway bridge—the new Pamban Bridge, marking a significant milestone in national progress. Built at a cost of ₹535 crores, this 2.1 km-long engineering marvel features a 72-meter vertical lift span, ensuring seamless rail travel while allowing maritime traffic to pass. The bridge's construction, initiated in November 2019, replaces the old Pamban Bridge, which had been a vital link since 1914 but closed in December 2022 due to wear. This new bridge symbolizes innovation, connectivity, and a bright future for generations to come.
