Baramulla (J&K), November 12 (ANI): As an exemplary display of bonhomie and an unprecedented feat, soldiers of the Indian Army celebrated the festival of Diwali along with locals at Soni Village in Uri Tehsil. The area and its populace exemplified the necessity of peace and camaraderie where life already faces multiple challenges given the harsh climate and terrain. A team of soldiers reached Soni village where houses were decorated with lights and the troops were welcomed with Dhols and flowers. The villagers displayed exuberance and sheer delight as they got a chance to celebrate this pious festival with protectors of the nation. The occasion was also utilized to spread awareness about the harmful effects of fireworks on the environment. “We celebrated this Diwali along with the Indian Army. This shows that we should live with harmony and peace with the soldiers, as they defend our homes, we bring them joy and happiness,” said a villager. “We celebrated this festival of lights with the Indian Army to make them feel at home here. They stay in the harsh terrains for so long that they must miss their families back at home. I am sure, we helped them and they missed their loved ones a little bit less this time, as they celebrated it with us,” said another villager.
