Indian 5.5 gen AMCA fighter plane prototype to be ready in next four years

New Delhi, August 29 (ANI): India is planning to be ready with the first prototype of the 5.5 generation fighter jet by 2028. The project was discussed in detail after IAF and DRDO recently met, where its roadmap was reviewed. The 5.5 Gen Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft would be a stealth aircraft, weighing around 27 tonnes. Agencies working to enhance aircraft's stealth with concealed missile carriage, while boosting conventional weapon load. As per officials, if engine production and other activities move in time, the first prototype will be ready by 2028. The aircraft would require at least 6 to 7 years for development and preparation for fighting wars of the future. The mass production of Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft, a 5.5-generation fighter, is expected to start by 2035. The prototype of a 4.5 generation fighter, initially expected by early 2025, has been delayed by approximately a year.
