India-Maldives working on “finding mutually workable solutions” amid rift in diplomatic relations

New Delhi, January 18 (ANI): After the bilateral ties between India and Maldives hit rock bottom in recent weeks, efforts are ongoing to mend relations. Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Randhir Jaiswal on January 18 informed that both nations are working on finding a mutually workable solution. “On 14th we had a meeting in the courtroom. We had a detailed discussion on several aspects of the bilateral relationship. Both sides held discussions on finding mutually workable solutions to enable the continued operation of Indian aviation platforms that provide humanitarian services to the people of Maldives. The next meeting is to be held in India to take the discussion forward,” informed Spokesperson Jaiswal while addressing a presser in Delhi. “Whatever's discussed was put out in the press release. That is where the situation stands. It is an ongoing process. Both sides held discussions on finding mutually workable solutions. This is an ongoing discussion, so things will go forward or things will be discussed in the next meeting of the core group subsequently soon,” he added.
