“India has done its best…” WHO Chief Tedros appreciates country’s measures to combat COVID-19

Gandhinagar (Gujarat), Aug 15 (ANI): World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who is in India to attend the G20 side event of Ayush Ministry on Traditional Medicine, praised the country’s efforts to effectively manage COVID-19. Addressing the Media on August 16, Tedros Adhanom said, “WHO has always supported Ayushman Bharat. We believe that countries should invest in primary healthcare and India is doing that. I am glad that I got the opportunity to visit here. India has done its best to fight COVID-19.” He also welcomed his Gujarati name-Tulsi Bhai-given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I like the name Tulsi Bhai because the ‘Tulsi’ is a medicinal plant. I just planted Tulsi here in the Wellness Centre. I’m really happy to do that because it has many benefits,” he said. The WHO DG also visited a Health and Wellness Centre in Adraj Moti Village in Gandhinagar district.
