Imphal (Manipur), May 31 (ANI): Heavy rain triggered by the landfall of cyclone ‘Remal’ has caused flooding in parts of Manipur. Security forces deployed for internal security have swiftly responded by providing immediate relief and support to affected citizens. The rapid rise in water levels has caused major rivers like Nambul and Imphal to overflow into various parts of Imphal's East and West districts. PM Modi took to his ‘X’ handle, expressed grave concern about the situation and said “Central government has assured all possible support.” Teams of NDRF, Indian Army and Assam Rifles along with local authorities, are carrying out rescue operations and saving people from various flood-hit areas of the region. The inundation has thrown life out of gear, submerging roads, residential areas, and government facilities. HM Amit Shah took to his ‘X’ handle and said “Spoke to the respective state Chief Ministers, took stock of the situation, and assured them of all possible help.” Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma took to his ‘X’ handle and thanked PM Modi for his support.
