‘Highlighting heritage of Kashmir’, students of NIFT Srinagar beautify school walls with paintings

Budgam (J&K), September 27 (ANI): The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Srinagar Campus took a big initiative to make colorful drawings on Government school walls in Budgam town of Central Kashmir. These students of NIFT, Srinagar wanted to show the heritage of Kashmir and the traditional art of Kashmir to locals and tourists who visit Budgam. While talking to ANI, Assistant professor cum instructor of NIFT, Srinagar Senek Shah said that, “We have taken an initiative under NIFT to paint all the walls of Government schools in Budgam which are colorless and needs to be colored and we want to make them beautiful by making beautiful paintings and right now we have chosen walls of Boys Higher Secondary School on which we draw some paintings of Kashmiri Crafts and the Kashmiri Culture, due to this two of our purposes are solved. First is that the young generations and the people who are new to the place will get to know about the Kashmiri culture and tradition and secondly, they will get motivated to keep their art alive.” Another student of the National Institute of Fashion and Technology said, “Craft of Kashmir is very limited and very beautiful. I am new to this craft but shortly I learned very much about the beauty of Kashmiri craft and we are trying to draw the traditional things on the walls of Budgam to promote the art and craft of Kashmir.”
