Gujarat's Bhekhadiya Village: Tribal story of progress, pride and prosperity

As India celebrates the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, his spirit of tribal empowerment is visible in Gujarat’s Bhekhadiya village of Chhota Udepur. Strong government initiatives and active community involvement are transforming the region through better healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure. Education is advancing with smart classes in the primary school, while schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana have enabled villagers such as Ramdas Jadubhai Rathwa to own pucca homes. Agriculture is strengthening too, with farmers like Jeshing Nayak benefiting from PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and securing higher incomes. With improved water supply, better roads, and expanding opportunities, Bhekhadiya has emerged as a model of inclusive and sustainable tribal development.
