Gujarat leads in waste management under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, transforming Ahmedabad’s Pirana dumping site into a waste-to-energy facility. Biodegradable waste undergoes anaerobic digestion, generating biogas for electricity, while non-biodegradable waste is converted into refuse-derived fuel (RDF) for cement kilns. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s doorstep garbage collection drive has enhanced waste segregation, making disposal and recycling easier for residents. Backed by Nirmal Gujarat 2.0 and Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, Gujarat’s model highlights government collaboration, innovation, and community participation. The state’s legacy waste disposal efforts set a national benchmark for sustainability and circular economy.
