Gujarat has once again positioned itself as a leader in national cleanliness efforts, transforming the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign into a mass movement – with local residents, NGOs and individuals joining hands with the authorities to express their commitment to cleanliness. Launched on September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, the campaign is part of his flagship ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’, which will mark its 10th anniversary on 2nd of October. The ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ has mobilized over 2.5 million people across Gujarat, contributing an impressive hours of voluntary work for cleanliness. Several awareness drives have received successful response from the public and Gujarat is well on its way to setting new benchmarks for cleanliness and civic participation, embodying the essence of the campaign’s motto: "Cleanliness is Our Right, Cleanliness is Our Pride." Among the leaders of Gujarat's cleanliness revolution is Dr. Tejas Doshi from Bhavnagar, whose initiatives have gained national recognition. Appointed as the Brand Ambassador for Bhavnagar under the Swachh Bharat Mission, Dr. Doshi has spearheaded several projects aimed at making Bhavnagar plastic-free. The ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign is not limited to a one-time event but will continue throughout October, with planned activities such as the cleaning of railway stations, bus stops, roads, tourist sites, and more.
