Gujarat: ‘Lakhpati Didi’ Scheme Giving Wings to Women Empowerment

Dang [Gujarat], July 21 (ANI): Gujarat is leading the way in rural development and women empowerment through schemes like ‘Lakhpati Didi’, aligned with PM Modi’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat or self-reliant India. Mangiben from Dhavalidod village in Dang district exemplifies this success. By joining the Jay Yogeshwar Sakhi Mandal under ‘Mission Mangalam’, she began organic farming of finger millet ‘ragi’, now popular in health-conscious markets. Today, Mangiben earns ₹20,000 monthly, and her group has crossed ₹60,000 in turnover, inspiring other women to become self-reliant. Dakshaben Birari from Jamalapada village turned turmeric farming into a successful business through the Ambika Sakhi Mandal. Starting with just ₹50, her group now runs a processing unit backed by a ₹12.83 lakh loan. Their brand, ‘Ambika Haldi Farm’, is market-recognized, and Dakshaben was awarded the Lakhpati Didi Samman Patra—an honor for her and her village.
