Govt of India comes out with Gazette notification for ‘One Nation, One Election’ panel

The Central Government on Sept 02 formed an eight-member committee to examine ‘One nation, One election’. In the committee, Former President Ram Nath Kovind appointed as Chairman of the committee. Union HM Amit Shah, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Former Rajya Sabha LoP Ghulam Nabi Azad, and others appointed as the members of the Committee. The committee is aimed at examining the flexibility of "one nation, one election".The committee has been set up months before assembly polls in five states and ahead of Lok Sabha polls next year. The govt has decided to call a Special Session of Parliament from September 18-22, where it is speculated that the government could bring a bill for this proposal to take effect.
