Gujarat, Dec 21 (ANI): As India marks the ‘National Kisan Day’ to honor the farmers, the Gujarat state has taken the lead in farmer welfare with initiatives integrating infrastructure, technology, and market support. The Chief Minister's Crop Storage Structure Scheme now offers increased subsidies, raising support for farm storage facilities from ₹75,000 to ₹1 lakh. The state’s i-Khedut portal, with over 7 lakh registered farmers, serves as a hub for agricultural schemes, while natural farming training for 30 lakh farmers promotes sustainability. Groundnuts and cotton dominate Gujarat’s agriculture, with 70% of farmers cultivating these crops, supported by a minimum support price of ₹1356 for 20 kg of high-quality peanuts. Innovations like drip irrigation and the Jyotigram Scheme, providing 24-hour electricity for irrigation, have transformed drought-prone regions, driving Gujarat’s agricultural success.
