Surat (Gujarat), Sept 05 (ANI): In Gujarat, government welfare schemes are transforming the lives of persons with disabilities by promoting dignity, independence, and self-reliance. Through initiatives like the Sant Surdas Yojana, beneficiaries receive free bus and rail travel, along with ₹1,000 monthly assistances. Surat’s Hasmukhbhai Chopda, who runs a mechanic shop, says this support has eased his daily challenges, while Maheshbhai Babariya’s surgical supply business not only sustains his livelihood but also benefits other Divyang citizens with artificial limbs and equipment. Officials note that over ₹650 crores has been disbursed in the past five years, with plans to further expand support. From financial aid to toolkits, these schemes are scripting stories of resilience and progress.
