The Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program has introduced 188 new dialysis centres across all districts in Gujarat, bringing the total to 270, where patients receive free dialysis treatment. Supported by the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the initiative has made healthcare more accessible. Under the scheme, each patient is also entitled to ₹300 for travel expenses per session, and receives free food and medicines at the dialysis centres. Patients expressed that dialysis is often an expensive and burdensome process. With some patients requiring up to ten dialysis sessions per month, this program has brought immense relief. The success of PM-JAY in Gujarat is not just in the number of dialysis centers, but also in its transformative impact on patients' lives with nearly 2700 free of cost procedures. By alleviating the financial burden of dialysis and making essential healthcare services accessible to more families, the program continues to make a difference in communities across Gujarat.
