Flash floods ravage parts of Sikkim; death toll rises to 26

Mangan (Sikkim), October 07 (ANI): Flash floods have wreaked havoc in the north-eastern state of Sikkim. As per Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority, the death toll from flash floods in Sikkim has reached 26. A total of 142 people have been reported missing. Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang visited flood-affected areas of Mangan’s Naga Village and interacted with the victims of flood. The Mangan district has been allotted a relief package of Rs 25 crore. NDMA, SSDMA personnel and dedicated volunteers are tirelessly engaged in rescue and relief operations. As per an SSDMA report, 2,413 people have been rescued, and 1,203 houses have been damaged. CM Tamang chaired a high-level meeting at his official residence in Mintokgang on Oct 05.
