Families of Silkyara tunnel workers celebrate safe rescue with firecrackers, sweets

Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand), Nov 29 (ANI): As the trapped workers were safely rescued from the Silkyara tunnel on November 28 evening, their family members and relatives in different parts of the country burst into joy and celebrated the moment like Diwali by bursting crackers. Many relatives, who had reached the site a couple of days after the incident and had been camping there since then, were finally reunited with their loved ones. Family members of Ram Prasad Narzary, a native of Assam’s Kokrajhar celebrated his rescue from the Silkyara tunnel by bursting crackers. Talking to ANI, Ram Prasad Narzary’s father said, “I want to thank the Government of India and Assam government for safely rescuing all the people trapped inside the tunnel... I am relieved after listening that the rescued have been taken to the hospital...” “I am very happy...I thank the Government of India...” said Ram Prasad Narzary’s wife. Family members of Bhagban Batra from Odisha’s Nabarangpur celebrated their joyous moment by bursting crackers and distributing sweets after his successful rescue from the tunnel. Family members of Vishal from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, one of the workers who was rescued from the Uttarkashi tunnel, also celebrated the joyous moment. Urmila, mother of Vishal, said, “I am very happy with the governments of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, I thank them from the bottom of my heart...” Celebrations erupted at the residence of Manjit, a worker from UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri, who was trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarkashi.
