New Delhi, September 29 (ANI): India-Canada ties nosedived after Canadian PM Justin Trudeau’s “absurd” allegation on India. PM Trudeau accused India’s role in the murder of Khalistani supporter Hardeep Singh Nijjar. However, days after the stirring allegation, PM Justin Trudeau is on a back-foot. Trudeau said that Canada is still committed to building closer ties with India, Canadian News Paper National Post reported. As per the National Post, Trudeau said that it is “extremely important” that Canada and its allies continue to engage with India. Pointing to the increasing influence of India worldwide, PM Trudeau called India a “growing economic power and important geopolitical player”. Although, Trudeau sought India’s cooperation in the Khalistani supporter Najjar assassination case. Justin Trudeau has ‘softened’ his tone on India after Canadian Defence Minister Bill Blair called the relationship with India “important”. Trudeau claimed of having “credible allegations of potential link between agents of India in killing of Hardeep Nijjar”. However, India outrightly rejected Trudeau’s allegation and called it “absurd and motivated”.
