Ex-Foreign Secretary HV Shringla decodes PM Modi’s call with Biden over Hindus' safety in Bangladesh

New Delhi August 28 (ANI): On discussions between PM Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden on the current situation in Bangladesh, former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that PM Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden discussed the dire situation in Bangladesh, where minorities, especially Hindus, are facing atrocities. This conversation highlights two key points: firstly, the severity of the situation prompted the Prime Minister to address it, and secondly, the US has gained significant leverage over Bangladesh, potentially influencing key figures like Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus, indicating a collective effort to mitigate the crisis. Former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said, "... There are two conclusions which we can draw from their conversation. The situation is very serious for the Prime Minister to take it up. Atrocities are happening against minorities and Hindus in particular, in Bangladesh. Second is that the US leverage on Bangladesh has increased... The US might have leverage on certain sections in the country including the Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus..."
