EV Buses, Smart Safety: Ahmedabad BRTS on fast track to 2030 Commonwealth Games

As Ahmedabad gears up for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, the city is rapidly advancing sustainable urban mobility through its Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS). Operating nearly 380 buses—150 of them electric—the network serves over 2.2 lakh passengers daily across 160 kilometres, with a clear roadmap towards full electrification. Alongside green transport, commuter safety is being reinforced by Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited through a 24×7 Command and Control Centre equipped with smart CCTV surveillance for real-time monitoring. Commuters report noticeable improvements in cleanliness, monitoring, and overall travel experience, particularly enhancing safety for women and night travellers. With technology-driven operations and a strong sustainability focus, Ahmedabad’s BRTS is emerging as a Games-ready, global-standard urban transport model.
