“Design of Chandrayaan 4 and 5…” ISRO Chief Dr S Somanath gives a big update

New Delhi, August 20 (ANI): ISRO Chief Dr S Somanath briefed about the upcoming Chandrayaan 4 and 5 mission. He said that the design of Chandrayaan 4 and 5 has been completed and they are seeking approval from the government. Dr S Somanath said, "There are so many things. The first and foremost is to rocket side. We have a rocket which is LVM3, which has 4-5 tonnes of capability. But in the coming days, we need to bring down the cost. So, today the cost is though high, it is competitive, but it has to be brought down substantially. So we are developing another rocket which will cost the same as LVM3, but offer twice or thrice the payload. We are going for a private-public partnership model to release that rocket. Second, we have a series of missions to go to the moon. Chandrayaan 3 is over. Now, the design of Chandrayaan 4 and 5 has been completed. We are seeking approval from the government..."
