Chennai, Sept 30, 2025 (ANI): Nine workers were killed and one was injured in an accident at North Chennai Thermal Power Station on Sept 30. PM Modi expressed grief announcing an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF to next of kin of each deceased, and Rs. 50,000 for injured. Tamil Nadu’s Additional Chief Secretary J. Radhakrishnan visited the hospital to meet the injured. “There was a report of fall of steel arch… nine people have been brought (to the hospital) dead," Radhakrishnan said. Officials of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, which is the contractor of the project, were present at the accident site.
