Description: New Delhi, Nov 30, 2025 (ANI): Strong winds and rough sea conditions were reported along the Puducherry coast as Cyclone Ditwah continues to move closer. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert, as the cyclonic storm over the southwest Bay of Bengal advanced northwards at a speed of seven kmph, posing a severe threat to the northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts. Giving an update on Cyclone ‘Ditwah,’ IMD Senior Scientist Ananda Kumar Das on Nov 30 said that mainly extremely heavy rainfall will occur over the northern Tamil Nadu coastal air belt, and heavy to very heavy rainfall in the south coastal area. “...Today and tomorrow, it will be impacting the north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh. This wind, currently at 70-80 kmph and gusting to 90 kmph, will gradually slow to 60-70 kmph. By evening, it will become squally with winds of 50 to 60 kmph. Thereafter, mainly extremely heavy rainfall will occur over the northern Tamil Nadu coastal air belt, and heavy to very heavy rainfall in the south coastal area... There is no sign of relief today, as it moves north along the coast, and by evening, it will be near Chennai in the sea. Rain will continue throughout the day today, and it will occur tomorrow in the south coastal areas... Some districts of Telangana may also receive heavy rainfall...,” said Ananda Kumar Das
