‘Connivance between DMK, local liquor sellers,’ Annamalai blasts CM Stalin over Hooch tragedy

Kallakurichi (Tamil Nadu), June 20 (ANI): Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai on June 20, met the victims of the Hooch tragedy in Kallakurichi government hospital. He held a press conference and announced a state-wide protest on June 22. During the address, he questioned the Tamil Nadu CM’s absence in Kallakurichi. Following this he asserted that he would write to the Home Minister demanding a CBI probe. “From the DMK side, it is deeply disappointing that CM MK Stalin has yet to come to Kallakurichi but he is sending his son Udhayandihi Stalin. Even in such a time, he wants to do dynastic politics. We demand CM to visit Kalalakaruchi immediately and sack the Minister for Prohibition and Excise in the next 24 hours. This is a clear administrative and law and order failure. On Saturday, BJP will hold a state-wide protest on our demands. If demands are not met, then we will march to the Chennai Kotai, I will write to the Home Minister asking for a CBI inquiry. We believe there is connivance between DMK party functionaries and those who are selling liquor at the local level. This has happened within a few meters of the court and the police station," said K Annamalai 38 people lost their lives after consuming illicit liquor in the Kallakurichi district in the State on June 20. Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai has announced a state-wide protest against the Stalin-led DMK Tamil Nadu Government on June 22. As per sources, a total of 107 people have been admitted to the Kallakurichi government Medical College Hospital out of which 59 people were referred to hospitals in other places such as Salem, Villupuram, and Puducherry, according to news agency ANI. Tamil Nadu Police has deployed police in heavy force in Kallakurichi with personnel drawn from various units and districts.
