Compelling footage emerges of Marine Commandos air dropping over Arabian Sea to combat pirates

New Delhi, March 17(ANI): After high tempo of operations lasting over 40 hrs, Indian Navy warship INS Kolkata on March 16 took 35 sea pirates in custody who hijacked MV Ruen. On March 16, Indian Navy shared video of the encounter between commandos and pirates. The merchant vessel that had been hijacked in Dec 2023 and was under control of Somalian Pirates was sanitized for presence of illegal arms, ammunition and contraband. Indian Navy on March 17 released incredible visuals of the heroics of Indian troops during Anti-Piracy Operations. The visuals show how the rovers were brought down on their knees and how the crew members were rescued. Marine commandos showed their heroics as they were airdropped from C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft. With their special boats, commandos moved towards the vessel and carried out the operation. The Indian Navy thwarted designs of Somali pirates to hijack ships plying through the region by intercepting ex-MV Ruen. Now, the warship INS Kolkata has started sailing towards Indian West Coast with 35 pirates and 17 crew members. The Navy is also bringing the hijacked merchant vessel MV Ruen to the Indian coast. Officials have also informed that the vessel is carrying huge amount of steel. Notably, Indian Navy has proved its mettle by averting piracy bids in high seas in recent times.
