Srinagar, Oct 23 (ANI): The Sericulture Department started a Cocoon Auction drive to boost the sericulture sector in Srinagar. The purpose of the drive was to provide a specific market for growers to sell their products with proper manners and genuine rates from buyers. Several buyers from different states of the country including Bangalore and Bengal visited Kashmir to purchase these cocoons. Sericulture is one of the important sectors of the valley which creates a source of employment for thousands of people. Every year, the Department of sericulture establishes cocoon sale markets in all districts for growers to sell their crops at genuine rates. So, this year, growers are trying hard to prepare their cocoon production at a large scale with good quality. Kashmiri Silk is very popular across the world due to its pure quality. That’s why every year, buyers from different parts of the country have been participating in such auctions aimed to purchase quality cocoons of the valley.
